Abstract

Amplifying Potential: Youth Generated Research on COVID-19 and a vision for how to build back better is a study designed to tackle the following research questions: 1. What is the impact of COVID-19 on young people in NYC? 2. What are the areas young people believe are most critical to address post-COVID-19? 3. Are these mitigated by location? In order to answer these research questions, the research team will collect 2021 youth census data from youth ages 13-24 and analyze that data along with external data sources (e.g. COVID-19 rates, economic indicators [business closers], academic/school measures, etc.). Lastly, we will use data science methods (i.e. machine learning, geographic information systems [GIS]) to examine the impact of COVID-19on particular geographic areas mapping both what is and what could be if we listened to youth.
